19-year-old dies after skiing in Steamboat Springs

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A 19-year-old man has died after skiing at the Howelsen Hill Ski Area in downtown Steamboat Springs, Colo.

Detective Nick Bosick of the Steamboat Springs Police Department says it appears Cooper Larsh hit some bumps, went airborne and landed head first in a deep snowbank. The Steamboat Pilot & Today reports the snowbank was in an area off-limits to skiers.

Ski patrol found Larsh on Thursday night after his mother reported he had failed to meet up with her as planned.

Relatives say Larsh was a freshman at College of Wooster in Ohio but was in Steamboat Springs for spring break with his mother, who lives in Boulder.
