At least two people have died in floodwaters in Georgia. Emergency workers in suburban Atlanta found a woman dead in her sunken vehicle after it was swept off a road by flooding. Authorities also say a man west of the city died after his vehicle was washed off a road into a creek. A state emergency management official is urging residents to stay home if they don't have to drive.
Elsewhere in the rain-soaked Southeast, firefighters in Chattanooga, Tenn., say a man is presumed to have drowned after a powerful current pulled him into a flooded culvert.
Rescuers found two men clinging to a chain-link fence in fast-moving water late last night. One of them was saved, but the other man was swept away as he tried to grab a garden hose thrown by a neighbor.
