2 shot in Rocky Ford, shooters at large

Two people were shot in a possible robbery in Rocky Ford, and their assailants reportedly shot at a witness who tried to follow their vehicle Saturday afternoon.

One of the shooting victims was taken to a Pueblo hospital. The other was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Colorado Springs.

The Pueblo Chieftain quoted Rocky Ford Police Lt. James Hale as saying four men entered the store and may have tried to rob it. He said someone sprayed mace during the incident at La Nortena clothing store on Elm Avenue.

Police said they are looking for two Hispanic men who fled in a silver or gray car with New Mexico license plates. Police did not release a more detailed description.
