A playground at Adams Park in Colorado Springs was set on fire today. The park is northeast of Union and Fountain boulevards. It is the third playground fire in just the last month. Last week, equipment at Houck Park was completely burned. That's located just west of North Academy, near Union.
Kurt Schroeder, a manager of the city's Parks, Trails and Open Space, says it will cost some $2,100 to remove the burnt equipment and replace it. That is going to be a struggle for the cash-strapped city, but the city says it is a price worth paying to make sure kids can still have fun.
The fire department is looking into whether the incidents are related. If you have any information about the fires, you are asked to contact Colorado Springs police.
