4 people still missing in Boulder County fire

Authorities say a wildfire that has destroyed at least 135 homes in the foothills west of Boulder and driven thousands out of their homes is about 10 percent contained.

The roughly 6,200-acre fire that started Monday has become one of the most destructive blazes in Colorado history. Its toll is likely to rise as firefighters get a clearer picture of the damage.

About 3,500 people have been evacuated from about 1,000 homes. Residents of four neighborhoods will be allowed to return home Thursday morning. It wasn't clear how many homes that involves.

Four people are unaccounted for. It's hoped that they simply fled the fire and have not yet checked-in with family, friends and county officials.

No deaths or injuries have been reported at this point, and the cause of the fire isn't known.
