5 miles of wilderness charred, fire line grows

A wildfire burning in southwest Colorado's San Miguel Canyon is about 25 percent contained.

Fire information officer Chris Barth said helicopters hit hot spots while crews worked on the perimeter. He says crews have taken advantage of limited fire activity.

The fire was burning on an estimated nearly 5 square miles, or 3,100 acres, of mostly federal land.

The fire started Saturday when a power line fell, and flames were fanned by high winds.

No structures are threatened, but a few campsites were evacuated.
