7 shot, 3 dead at Connecticut beer distributor

Seven people were shot at a beer distribution company in Manchester, Conn., early Tuesday morning, police told NBC station WVIT.

Police confirmed that the alleged shooter is dead.

The incident happened at Hartford Distributors, about 10 miles east of Hartford, police said.

Officials said people are "down," although officials have not yet confirmed exactly how many were shot or how badly they were injured.

Brett Hollander, Hartford Distributors' director of marketing, told The Hartford Courant the shooter was an employee of the company and that about 35 or 40 people were in the warehouse at the time of the shooting Tuesday morning. Shifts were just changing, Hollander said.

"They just went in there with guns blazing," Hollander told The Hartford Courant.

South Windsor Police are assisting Manchester Police in the investigation.
