Abortion opponents in Colorado are suing to force the state to change how it describes an abortion-related amendment before voters this fall.
The state-approved description of the so-called Personhood Amendment includes a summary of opponents' positions on the measure to change the state constitution to say that citizenship rights be granted at "beginning of biological development."
Opponents say the measure could block some forms of birth control and fertility treatments, not just abortion.
Personhood Colorado filed the suit Tuesday afternoon in Denver District Court.
The Blue Book, the pro-and-con analysis of each ballot issue, has already been mailed.
