The process of shifting Academy Boulevard to the west, from south of the Home Depot entrance to north of York Road, will start at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 20.

Academy Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes in each direction during this time, and drivers are reminded to slow down, watch for signs along the new alignment, and exercise caution. This work is dependent upon weather and resource availability.

The Woodmen Road Corridor Improvement Project - Phase 1 will enter a new phase with this shift. This temporary alignment will allow the project team to excavate Academy Boulevard approximately twelve feet and begin preparation work to build the bridge which will carry Woodmen Road over Academy Boulevard.

This part of the phase is anticipated to be completed by Monday, March 22 at 6:00 a.m.

The Phase 1 Construction Project (Campus Drive to Stinson Road) will widen Woodmen Road to six lanes and build a grade-separated interchange at Woodmen Road and Academy Boulevard. Construction of these improvements is the first step to reduce congestion along Woodmen Road. The project started in September 2009 and is anticipated to be completed by September 2011.
