Admission will be free on August 14 and 15 at Bent's Old Fort near La Junta, as well as hundreds of other national parks.

"This fee-free weekend provides an opportunity for individuals and families alike to take an affordable vacation or to explore a nearby park they have never visited before," Interior Chief Ken Salazar said. "I encourage everyone to take advantage of the free admission to visit not only our greatest natural wonders but also our nation's historic and cultural icons."

There are 392 national parks located across the country in 49 states.

The fort's regular fee of $3 per adult and $2 for children will be waived all day on both Saturday and Sunday this coming weekend. The site will be open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. both days.

Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site is located on Colorado Highway 194, 8 miles east of La Junta or 13 miles west of Las Animas, Colorado.
