US AIR FORCE ACADEMY - A fast start by Army wasn't enough to beat Air Force Saturday in an Atlantic Hockey Association game at the Cadet Ice Arena. The Black Knights took 14 shots on goal in the first quarter and scored on a shot by Thane Heller during the power play.
The Falcons John Kruse evened the game early in the 2nd netting his 6th goal of the season. Army then scored twice in less than a minute, first on a rebound shot from Zak Zaremba. Josh Roberts forced a turnover on the forecheck and fed Andrew O'Leary in the slot.
Senior defenseman Eric Artman cut Army's lead at 7:08 in the 2nd. Then in the 3rd, Kyle DeLaurell picked up his fourth goal of the series to tie the game at 3 apiece.
Air Force outshot Army 45-30 on the game and were 1-3 on the power play. The Falcons travel to Sacred Heart next weekend.
