U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. - Air Force athletics is ranked fourth among Mountain West Conference schools in the latest Division I Learfield Sports Director's Cup standings. The Falcons have 217.50 points and are the highest ranked service academy and stand 81st overall in the nation among 288 schools.
New Mexico leads the conference with 422.50 to rank 50th overall. San Diego State is second in the league and 65th overall with 296.0, followed by Boise State in third and 80th overall with 223.0. UNLV is fifth in the MW and 98th overall at 160.0.
Stanford leads the overall standings with 1,479 points. Notre Dame is second at 1,102.75 and Florida is third with 1,071.50. Navy is second among service academies with 170.50 which ranks 93rd overall while Army is 119th overall with 120.0.
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports -- ten women's and ten men's.
The next Division I spring standings will be released Thursday, June 19. Please note, standings published midseason are unofficial.
