U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force junior winger Cole Gunner was named the Travel Team USA / Atlantic Hockey Association player of the week as he helped lead the Falcons to a sweep over Sacred Heart.
The Richfield, Minn., native tallied four points on two goals and two assists in the two games against the Pioneers at the Cadet Ice Arena. Gunner scored two goals, including the empty-netter to seal the win, on Friday in the 6-4 victory. On Saturday, he scored the game-winner and also added an assist in the 4-0 victory. In the series, he won 69 percent of his faceoffs in the series and was a +3.
The AHA weekly award was the second for Gunner this season and the seventh earned by a Falcon this season
Air Force, 14-6-4 overall and 9-3-3 and in third place in the AHA, travels to Pittsburgh, Pa., for a two-game series against the Robert Morris Colonials, Jan. 24-25, at 7:05 p.m. ET each night.
