Colorado Springs Police tell NewsFirst5 that alert citizens reported activity deemed suspicious in the Shadowglen area of Colorado Springs which is located near N. Academy and Flintridge Drive. Officers were alerted by citizens who witnessed two suspects in a Honda Civic access private mailboxes and leave.
Following the report police officers quickly saturated and contained the area and found the suspect vehicle near Ridgecrest Drive and Ridgeglen Road occupied by two adult females. In the resulting investigation, it was determined that the suspects stole mail in this and other areas of El Paso County. One of the female suspects was also found to be in possession of crack cocaine. The suspects were taken into custody and processed through the Criminal Justice Center.
The Colorado Springs Police are calling this, "yet another fine example of the cooperation we enjoy with the citizens of our city." The investigation is ongoing and police will be securing search warrants to see how far and deep this crime spree has gone.
