The contractor doing the expansion work on I-25 from Woodmen Road to Monument has an expedited plan for getting the new lanes flowing.
CDOT planner originally estimated a two year time-line to get three lanes going in each direction. The contractors who got the bid, Kiewitt Construction, now say they will do it less than half the time. The plan is to have lanes open by the end of this year.

To make it happen they need drivers to pay attention in the area. There will a lot of workers and equipment. "There will be multiple crews throughout the highway during any one point in the day," said Design Manager, Wes Kindt, "We'll also instigate a night crew if we need to, or multiple night crews."

Work starts in March. When it begins the speed limit will drop to 65 miles an hour. There will be times during overnight work when it lowers to 45.
