Animal art to be offered in Pueblo for Earth Day

Pueblo Zoo animals have been painting in anticipation of Earth Day.  On April 24 and 25 visitors will be able to view and purchase art created by our resident animals and some talented zookeepers.

All proceeds from sales will go toward conservation programs. In addition to being able to purchase the artwork, some of the animals will be demonstrating their painting talents for visitors to observe. Zookeepers will be conducting talks at some of the exhibits, there will up-close animal encounters, the Pioneer Ranch contact area will be open, and there will be face painting and crafts.

Artists include, Ziggy, North American porcupine; Meekoo, a raccoon; Harry and Largo, pelicans; Odin and Thor, North American river otters; and Essie, a bobcat.  There's also a joint effort by the five squirrel monkeys, a collaboration by several meerkats, as well as a group project done by penguins.

The zoo party happens Saturday, April 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 25 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  The zoo is open Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm.
