Apartment fire leaves 29 homeless

A Colorado Springs apartment building has been deemed uninhabitable after a fire last night.  Twenty nine people who lived there were displaced.

The fire was reported at about 9:15 p.m. at 340 Crestone Lane at the Cheyenne Vista Apartments.

It took about 90 minutes to put the fire out.

There were more than 50 fire fighters on the scene.  They were hampered by high winds.

No one was injured, but the damage was serious enough to make it unsafe.  The Red Cross is assisting those who were left without a place to stay.

No cause has been released.
