App glitch leads traffic to runway

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Never mind lead us not into temptation - some users of the Apple Maps app on newer iPhones and iPads have to be concerned about something more serious: being led into the path of a jet. A glitch in the program is being blamed for sending people looking for the terminal at Fairbanks International Airport headed out to a runway at the airfield. The map actually stops on the tarmac, but twice this month alone, wayward drivers have darted across an active runway trying to get to the terminal. There were no injuries in either case. The entrance to the taxiway has now been blocked from traffic. The incidents are a reminder to those who rely on navigation from a phone or built-in car GPS that they should rely on common sense and their own eyes, rather than just what pops up on their screen.
