RED FLAG WARNING for El Paso, Fremont, Huerfano, Las Animas, and Pueblo Counties, including the San Luis Valley until 8 PM. This has been issued as winds will gust this afternoon to 30 mph.
I hear the kids screaming "pool-time, pool-time!" On days like this, it definitely gives some of us an itch for summer. Today, highs will climb well into the 70s and 80s. In fact, Pueblo and Colorado Springs will be within a few degrees of the record high for today's date. And with temperatures this high, we're as much as 20 degrees above average.
It won't stay THIS warm the rest of the week. But temperatues will definitely stay mild. A weak cold front will move through the area tomorrow morning, dropping our temperatures. Highs will drop back to the 60s and 70s as a bit more cloud cover moves overhead.
Friday, temperatures start to climb back up. I don't think they'll be quite as warm as today, but warmer than Thursday.
The weekend forecast calls for a little bit of everything. Saturday will be by-far the better day. Temperatures will still stay mild, as we'll see partly sunny skies. And we stay dry! However, Saturday Night, a strong front moves through. This will drop temperatures on Sunday by as much as 20 degrees! Plus, we'll have mostly cloudy skies and some showers around. Lower elevations will see rain showers. But Sunday Night, these showers could turn into snow. We'll be on the lookout for another possible snowy Monday morning - like what had last week.
Enjoy the warmth... Meteorologist Valerie Abati
