Army plans to blow-up chemical weapons in Pueblo

The Army is planning to speed up the destruction of chemical weapons at facilities in Colorado and Kentucky by blowing them up.

Officials say the plan to use explosives is perfectly safe. But environmental activists question that and say the Army is caving in to international pressure. Even speeding up the destruction won't allow the U.S. to meet a 2012 deadline to get rid of its stockpile. That's drawn criticism from countries such as Iran and Cuba.

The Army's plan involves mustard gas and other weapons at depots in Richmond, Kentucky and Pueblo, Colorado.
