Athlete of the Week shows incredible act of sportsmanship

This week, we have a very special Loaf 'N Jug Aquafina Athlete of the Week.

It involves two athletes from two different high school football teams, Canon City quarterback Logan Nethercot and Widefield's Desmond Holmes. Holmes is a special needs student-- he's mentally disabled.

On the final play of Friday's game between Canon City and Widefield, the Widefield coaches put Holmes into the game.

Nethercot took the snap, and then ran over to Holmes, who made the tackle for the sack. It was the first play of Holmes' high school career and certainly a very special one at that. A lot of credit also goes to the referees for helping make it a really cool moment.

But our Athlete of the Week is Logan Nethercot for his incredible act of sportsmanship. Logan is a very accomplished player, by the way, who threw for over 1,800 yards and 13 touchdowns to lead the Tigers to a 6-4 record this season.
