How did this week's Loaf 'N Jug-Aquafina Athlete of the Week celebrate a championship? By returning to training.
Cheyenne Mountain swimmer Sydney Buckley is fresh off her third State Title, and she still isn't taking time off. She just finished her senior year, and now she's training for her club team. After all the success, she gives the credit to her her high school surroundings.
"It's at a higher level than most other high schools, which I really like," says Buckley. "It's just because we have such great girls on the team, and we all push each other. Without them I don't think I would've been pushed to win a State Title, or even to swim the butterfly."
She swims with the Colorado Torpedo Club team with a big meet in Seattle this weekend. Her events are 100 butterfly, 100 breast stroke, and freestyle. She's already committed to swim at the University of North Texas
