ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - A hiker attacked by a bear near Aspen is being interviewed by wildlife authorities to try to find out what happened.

The Denver Post reports that it's unclear how badly hurt the hiker is. A spokesman for Colorado Parks and Wildlife says the man was hiking with two companions along the Minnehaha Gulch trail towards Buckskin Pass when the bear attacked Friday.

The spokesman did not identify the hiker and said it was not immediately known how badly he was hurt. He was hospitalized.

Wildlife officers will investigate the scene to collect evidence, and interview the victim and his two companions.
