An alleged beating over a missing necklace ended in the death of one man and a murder charge pending against the other.

Ted Gomez of Pueblo, 60, died yesterday at a Pueblo hospital. He had suffered a beating on February 27 and was hospitalized on the 28th with head injuries.

Pueblo County Coroner James Kramer confirmed Gomez died yesterday morning at St. Mary Corwin Hospital.

Joseph Espinoza, 41, had been arrested on Saturday for assaulting Gomez. He's being held on an assault charge, but that charge will now be upgraded to homicide. His bail is $250,000.
