Bees breeze past Sox in Salt Lake

Three Bees relief pitchers combined to allow only one run in eight and one-third innings to help Salt Lake to a 6-1 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox on Monday night in Salt Lake City. Bees’ starter Amalio Diaz was knocked out by the game's second batter, as Kaz Matsui's line drive hit Diaz on his pitching hand. Barret Browning (2-0) came out of the bullpen and gave up just one run in four and one-third innings for the win. Gabe DeHoyos followed up with three scoreless innings and Bobby Cassevah finished the game with a scoreless ninth.

Mark Trumbo and Terry Evans led the Bees with two hits, including a home run, and two runs batted in each. Nate Sutton went 3-for-3 with one RBI, while Luis Figueroa added a pair of hits, as the Bees won their third straight. Peter Bourjos went 0-for-5 to snap his 10-game hitting streak.

The Sky Sox now head to Sacramento to begin a four-game series Tuesday night.
