This week the Colorado Springs Streets Division starts their busy summer season of street maintenance work. They did get a half million dollar bump to their budget, but streets managers say they're still falling behind on a list of requests for work that is close to 5-thousand.
Back in 2006 when budgets were better crews did work on close to nine-percent of streets a year. Now the can only get to one or two-percent. Colorado Springs Streets Operations Manager, Bard Lower says, "Well if you're looking at one or two-percent every road only gets touched every 50 to 100 years and road deteriorate a lot quicker than that."
