'Biggest Loser' continues to spark interest in weight loss

Season 11 of the Biggest Loser premieres at 7 o'clock tonight on NBC. If you're one of the many trying to lose weight this year, News First 5 wants to help.

News First 5 has created a special Facebook page to help you stay fit in 2011. It's called News First 5's Biggest Losers. We have tips and stories about staying fit and healthy. Plus, you can check out what others are doing to get back in shape.

For example, we saw a post on the page from Rose Ysles. She and six of her coworkers at the Pueblo Small Animal Clinic started an office weight loss challenge on Monday. They have 15 weeks to drop the weight--with goals ranging from 20 to 55 pounds.

"We decided to do this so all of us could get healthy and start feeling better," said Wendy Keller, with the Pueblo Small Animal Clinic. They were inspired by the hit NBC show The Biggest Loser.

One of the contestants this season, is former Colorado Springs Olympian gold medalist Rulon Gardner, who's up to 474 lbs. The contestants will each have partners to lean on as they shed the fat.

At the vet clinic, they're using the same philosophy. Friends helping friends--as they avoid junk foods, eat healthier and exercise more.

"I just think we all need a little bit of support because losing weight is hard," said Ysles.

For extra support--Ysles also joined our News First 5's Biggest Losers page on Facebook. It's an online resource for anyone trying to lose weight.

"If we can just get together and share stories, swap recipes and tell each other that you can do it, I think that's a great way for us to lose weight in 2011. I'm excited," said Stefanie Boe, the Executive Producer at News First 5.

As the staff at the small animal clinic has already found out: just sharing their story has been a big motivation. "We'll be successful, we will. We have all of Pueblo watching now. We'll be successful," said Ysles.
