Blowing snow closes some mountain roads

DENVER (AP) - Blowing snow has been making travel dangerous in parts of Colorado's mountains.

Rabbit Ears Pass, Loveland Pass and U.S. 285 in South Park were closed Tuesday morning because of the snow but 285 reopened by midday. Berthoud Pass is also back open after workers cleaned up a triggered avalanche that was between 100 and 150 feet wide and over 20 feet deep.

The National Weather Service says wind gusts of around 60 mph are possible on mountain passes. The snow is expected to gradually diminish by the late afternoon.
