A seven-mile stretch of Highway 24 west of Colorado Springs is now open between Florissant an Divide. The closure allowed road crews to quickly replace a 73-year-old bridge.
The bridge work took only four days. The Colorado Department of Transportation had alloted two weeks for the work, but SEMA Construction was able to do it between Wednesday night and Sunday.
The work was financed by vehicle registration fees, which were drastically increased last year by the state legislature.
