The hard freeze overnight and extended winter weather has caused major problems for home and business owners, as well as local nurseries.
The Broadmoor Hotel has had to scale back on brightening up their landscape because of the lingering cold weather.
"We thought 'the weather's been running really warm, we'll go ahead and buy the flowers a
little early and we'll get them planted' and then guess what -- Colorado weather hit us," says Karen Anderson, a landscape supervisor.
Normally The Broadmoor doesn't start planting until May 15th, but they say they wanted a few extra days to get ready for the grand opening of their West Hotel on Friday. The colorful flowers are a big part of the landscaping. For now, they've covered shrubs with frost cloth.
Planting is expected to continue on Wednesday.
