Broncos rookie Miller returns to practice

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - Denver Broncos rookie linebacker Von Miller was back at practice a day after leaving the field with a bruised right thigh.

Miller was the second overall pick in the draft.

Rookie Quinton Carter (heat stress) also was back on Saturday as the Broncos held their first practice in full pads under new coach John Fox.

Three of the Broncos' own free agents showed up on the sideline for the first time Saturday. Kicker Matt Prater, linebacker Wesley Woodyard and defensive end Ryan McBean signed new deals but can't participate until next week when free agents are allowed to practice.

The Broncos were without three starters from a year ago as Brian Dawkins, who's redoing his contract, sat out along with Renaldo Hill and D.J. Williams.
