Broncos set all-time record for points scored in a season

The Broncos now officially own the most prolific offense in NFL history.

With a touchdown early in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game in Oakland, Denver passed the 2007 New England Patriots for the most points ever scored in a season. They needed just 18 points in today's regular season finale to break the record, and after 2 first quarter passing touchdowns, they entered the 2nd quarter needing a field to tie.

Matt Prater kicked a 34 yard field goal with 12:39 left in the 2nd to tie the record at 589 total points. Then, later in the quarter, Peyton Manning connected with Demaryius Thomas on a 63 yard touchdown to take over sole possession of the most points ever scored by a team in one season of 595.

Manning needs less than 100 yards passing to break Drew Breese's record for most passing yards in one season.
