Bruce denies attorney regulators' allegations

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Anti-tax crusader Douglas Bruce is denying allegations that he illegally offered legal advice to people last year.

The counsel for the Colorado Office of Attorney Regulation had filed a complaint alleging Bruce was practicing law without a license when he offered advice relating to lawsuits over a Colorado Springs charter initiative that never made it on the ballot.

The Gazette reports that Bruce denied the allegations in a response received Thursday by the Colorado Supreme Court.

Separately, Bruce is scheduled for arraignment Monday on tax evasion charges in Denver. Bruce has called the charges groundless.

The former state lawmaker is known for promoting a state constitutional amendment known as the Taxpayers' Bill of Rights, or TABOR, which limits government taxing and spending.
