WATERLOO, N.Y. (AP) - State police say at least 20 people are hospitalized after a tour bus and tractor-trailer collided on Interstate 90 in central New York.
Sgt. Thomas Burroughs says the bus carrying about 50 people caught fire after the 1:30 a.m. crash Friday near Waterloo. Both vehicles were destroyed by fire.
Burroughs says an exact count on the injured is difficult because some were taken by helicopter to hospitals in the Rochester area while others went by ambulance and some by private vehicle.
There was no immediate word on their condition.
WSYR-TV reports that state police say a U.S. soldier from New York's Fort Drum who came upon the scene pulled some people from the burning bus.
Waterloo is midway between Syracuse and Rochester along the state's main east-west highway.
