TODAY: Cold early, but sunny, warmer and MUCH calmer this afternoon. High temps today will be in the lower 40's in Colorado Springs and Pueblo. Areas in the eastern half of the state with snow cover from yesterday's storm will stay cooler...including: Monument, Penrose, Beulah and Rye. Very little wind today and skies will be sunny to start and finish! Be sure to use caution on roadways in your neighborhood...still plenty of icy and snow packed spots that could cause problems.
TONIGHT: Starry and cold, but not as cold as this morning's low temps. Readings will bottom-out around 20 degrees in the Springs and around 12 in Pueblo. Any breeze tonight will make those temps feel even colder still.
FRIDAY: Winter officially begins tomorrow with mostly sunny skies and temps at least 10 degrees warmer tomorrow compared to today. More melting expected with high temps warming to 53 in Colorado Springs and 54 in Pueblo. With snow on the ground in spots it will again stay about 5-8 degrees cooler for some of you.
SATURDAY-SUNDAY: Staying dry and mild...especially on Saturday. Skies will be mostly sunny to partly with fairly light winds each day. Temps Saturday rise a few degrees compared to Friday...54 for Colorado Springs and 56 for Pueblo. A few more clouds on Sunday and a little bit cooler. Temps should be around 6-8 degrees lower compared to highs on Saturday. Weather for the Broncos and Browns in Denver will be chilly, but just about perfect. For the 2:05 kickoff it will be partly cloudy, calm and 46 degrees.
MONDAY: The forecast for Christmas Eve day will include snows showers increasing across the Continental Divide and an increasing chance for some snow locally for Santa Claus by Christmas Eve! Before all that happens it will be partly sunny to mostly cloudy and cooler during the day for all of us with temps of only 39 in the Springs and 41 in Pueblo. Temps in Teller County will stay in the 30's and our friends across the Rampart Range could be one of the spots during the afternoon to start seeing some snow showers.
CHRISTMAS EVE: Snow showers expected to increase in the high country and for the mountains close to home and for us right here along the Front Range. Chances for snow showers go up to about 40% across the higher elevations and up to 30% for Colorado Springs, Pueblo and the lower elevations closer to the mountains. Chances for snow showers will be lower out on the eastern plains.
CHRISTMAS DAY: If you have been dreaming of a white Christmas that you might just get your wish! It is looking more likely that a developing Pacific storm system will spread at least a few snow showers across the mountains and right here in parts of southern Colorado. We do know that it is going to be much colder with high temps only in the 20's for the lower elevations and teens and 20's for the mountains. Chance for snow will be most likely early in the day. You might have travel plans on or before Christmas Day so we'll keep you posted!
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny skies and chilly. High temps stay colder than average...in the mid 30's for the Springs and Pueblo.
