It's one of the biggest festivals in southern Colorado, but the Canon City Music and Blossom Festival isn't just about food and fun this year.
Organizers say they're hoping to bring in extra tourism funds that the Royal Gorge has lost since its devastating fire last summer. In honor of that, the theme is "Still Standing Tall."
"This is the biggest festival that we've got going in this community," says Lisa McCarter, a coordinator. "We like to say we throw a party for 18,000 of our closest friends."
She says hundreds of hours of preparation with more than 100 volunteers have gone in to making the festival as good as it can be in its 76th year.
