Cantor says Congress will find assistance funds

JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) - House Majority Leader Eric Cantor says the people in Joplin, Mo., won't have to worry about federal assistance following a monster tornado one week ago.

Speaking on CBS' Face the Nation, Cantor said Congress will find the money, and that it's waiting for President Barack Obama's recommendation on the amount of funding.

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon also told CBS he believes the people of the state and country will do everything in their power to help rebuild the town. But he says it will take time and he expects there will be a tremendous amount of frustration, pain and anguish before it's over.

At least 139 people are dead and about 100 are unaccounted for in the aftermath of the twister that leveled much of the city. Those numbers could change when city officials hold a briefing later today.

This evening, at 6:21 eastern, there will be a moment of silence marking one week since the tornado hit.
