DENVER (AP) - A plan to repair Colorado's gold dome on the state Capitol is getting a fresh effort.
Former U.S. Sen. Hank Brown is heading a new attempt to raise some $12 million needed to restore the aging dome.
Weather has damaged iron columns, railings and facades of the mostly cast iron dome.
Colorado lawmakers have agreed to set aside about $4 million for dome repairs, but another $8 million is needed from private donations.
Officials have been planning to raise money to repair the dome since 2007, when a 10-pound chunk of cast iron fell off.
