Captain Paul Watson, star of Animal Planet' s show "Whale Wars" and founder of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, will speak on the importance of saving our ecosystem in a free lecture at Colorado College Thursday evening.

He's described as a dynamic and passionate speaker on conservation and environmental issues. He's also a controversial figure, going against commercial fishing vessels that hunt marine mammals or endangered sea life.

The free, Earth Day lecture will take place in Armstrong Theatre, inside Armstrong Hall, at 14 E. Cache La Poudre St., Colorado Springs.

Prior to the 6 pm lecture, Watson will sign copies of "Earthforce" and "Seal Wars" from 5 to 5:45 pm in Armstrong Hall.
