Our recent forceful wind has been good and bad for a local car dealership. This past week, Automax in Pueblo has been getting a lot of use out a wind turbine located by their building. Their neighbors installed it about a year ago to help them generate power.
Automax says their electric bills have dropped by about 2% each month. But surprisingly, they really don't care for windy days. "I hate to tell you this, but no we don't hope for windy days," said Robin Trimble, a comptroller for AutoMax. "Wind is an irritating thing unfortunately and a lot of people just don't want to be out in the wind, so therefore it does hurt the business," she added.
On the flip side, Automax says the wind turbine has been a good marketing tool. Curious drivers notice it and stop to check it out.
