Miami University makes its first appearance ever in Colorado Springs this weekend when the RedHawks and CC meet in a two-game National Collegiate Hockey Conference series at the World Arena.
Faceoff is 7:37 p.m. MT Friday and 7:07 p.m. Saturday. The series opener kicks off a stretch in which the Tigers play seven of their final 12 regular-season outings, all against league opponents, at home.
Colorado College, 2-16-4 overall after tying (2-2) and losing (7-2) to nationally-ranked Providence College from the Hocket East Association, currently occupies eighth place in the NCHC standings with a 2-7-3-1 mark in conference play. Miami, which tied (2-2) and lost (5-1) to Western Michigan University at home last week, dropped to 9-10-3 overall and 3-8-1-1 in the NCHC. The seventh-place RedHawks, from Oxford, Ohio, lead CC by just one point in the standings.
Friday marks the just the third meeting ever between the teams. Colorado College won the previous two, defeating MU at the Cleveland Classic (3-1) on Dec. 29, 1993, and again at the Ohio Holiday Classic (4-3) in Columbus on the same date in 2004.
Tiger Bytes: Senior left wing Alexander Krushelnyski has logged a goal and an assist in each of CC's last three games, as well as in four of the last five and five overall for the season. With 13 points (6g,7a) in nine outings during the months of December and January, he has raised his career total to 94 (38g,56a). He also is just one shy of tying the school record for career shorthanded goals after scoring his eighth as a Tiger in the second period of last Friday's tie with Providence.
