TRINIDAD - A llama that made national headlines after wandering the streets of Trinidad has been killed, according to the Trinidad Police Department. The llama's body was found near Atchison Canyon, near where officers last saw the animal. Trinidad Police say that two adults and two juveniles are suspected in the animal's killing. One of the adult male suspects is believed to be a part owner of the animal. Officers are meeting with a local veterinarian to determine the cause of death.
Photos of three males posing with the dead animal, which appears to have been shot with an arrow and had its throat cut, have been posted on Facebook with the caption:
"And in current events, the infamous llama escapee has been located and irradiated. We ARE open for hire! But please, domesticated animals only."
The llama escaped from a "llama sitter" Wednesday and wandered the streets of Trinidad while onlookers snapped photos of the animal.
