Cemetery clean up planned

The two City-operated cemeteries, Evergreen and Fairview, will do an annual clean-up from March 1 to March 15.  People are now encouraged to remove any items from gravesites and headstones they wish to save.  Christmas wreaths, for example, will be removed and thrown away, as well as tarnished or damaged containers and old flowers.

Artificial flowers in urns or plastic vases attached to headstones may remain as long as they do not hinder mowing or other cemetery maintenance. Occasionally, permissible items are inadvertently removed, so the maintenance staff reminds citizens to remove any items of value from gravesites.

For more information, call Evergreen Cemetery at 578-6646, or Fairview Cemetery at 578-6638.
