The Colorado Springs Fire Department soaked a downtown city building on Monday, but it was not because of a fire.
The facility's department enlisted the help fire crews to help find leaks in the City Administration Building. Firefighters drenched the outside of the building hoping to discover inside leaks.
"In July, when we had the last heavy rain event, the City Administration Building had some serious water leaks on the exterior of the building and, so, we're just trying to hunt them down. We asked the fire department if you could make it rain for us and they said, ‘We'd be happy to help," says Facility Manager Bob Lund.
Building facilities personnel are aware of at least twelve leaks. Four to six leaks have already been found. Firefighters will complete the job on Wednesday.
A reserve truck was used to conduct the effort. All firefighters were on duty and if an emergency were to arise, the crew would have been immediately dispatched.
