Cheyenne Mountain hoops team recounts amazing 4-point play

Cheyenne Mountain fans are still celebrating after a thrilling double overtime win over the weekend.

Down three in the 2nd overtime, Ghassan Mheme nailed a three-pointer with time winding down to tie, and he was fouled on the play. He converted for the lead and the Indians held on for a spot in the 4A Final Four.

"I forced up my first shot, and Cody McCurry got a huge offensive rebound," said Mheme.

"It just happened to come right at me," said McCurry. "I held it for a second, then took one dribble, threw it to him."

Mheme: "And I just let it fly. From then on, it is what it is. It was an amazing game, and when we look back on it, ten years from now, we're just going to know that we made history for our school, and hopefully we can make more history this weekend for our school."

Cheyenne Mountain will play Denver South on Friday.

Pueblo East plays Sand Creek in the other 4A boys semifinal.

In 4A girls, Mesa Ridge plays Pueblo South on Thursday. We'll have all those teams covered, plus a bunch of schools in the lower classifications, coming up later in the week.
