Colorado lawmakers, firefighters, school officials and children's organizations are gathering to speak out against three tax-limiting initiatives on the November ballot.

Tuesday's rally at the state Capitol is being organized by opponents from Every Child Matters and Tennyson Center for Children. They say the initiatives will be harmful to Colorado children if they are passed.

Natalie Menten, a spokeswoman for the initiatives, says the opponents are desperate and using children as a shield.

Proposition 101 would reduce automobile and telecommunications taxes, Amendment 60 would cancel voter-approved tax-limit overrides and Amendment 61 would limit municipal borrowing and bar state debt.
