City flower beds in Colorado Springs may not be as bright his year but one could be pretty tasty.

About three weeks ago, several volunteers planted a vegetable garden outside City Hall. Veggies include rhubarb, beets and potatoes. "We want to show people that they too can garden," said Carrie McCausland with the city. None of us are experts. We're just people trying it out for the first time."

Funding to plant and maintain city flower beds was cut because of budget problems. Volunteers donated their time to maintain the garden but city money was used to buy the seeds.

Any food they grow will be donated to a local charity.
