City to destroy confiscated fireworks

The police and fire departments in Colorado Springs will be destroying fireworks Tuesday morning that were confiscated during the past year. Fireworks of any kind are illegal within city limits and a news release from the fire department stated that many people were ticketed this year for having fireworks.

People who use or sell fireworks can be fined up to $500 and/or sentenced to 90 days in jail. A fire that is found to have been started by fireworks will be treated as arson.

The fireworks disposal will take place at 9:00 a.m. at the County Department of Transportation building at 3275 Akers Drive.
