A civil union bill passed the House Appropriations Committee by a 7 to 6 vote this afternoon. It has one more hurdle -- the Republican controlled House. It will have to be ratified by midnight, or die before it gets to the Governor.

There is speculation there won't be enough time. It would grant same-sex couples inheritance rights, parental rights and the ability to be involved in a partner's medical decisions.
