CO authors coming to the Springs to discuss PTSD

Colorado authors -- who share their stories of dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder -- are coming to Colorado Springs Thursday to help local families for free.

Tony Seahorn - a Vietnam veteran - and his wife Janet - a C.S.U. Professor - wrote a book called "Tears of a Warrior."

In the book they describe their experience dealing with Tony's P.T.S.D as a family. They're visiting the Warrior Relaxation Response Center Thursday, from noon until around 6:30 p.m., to share their story and work with local families.

The center's founder, Antione Johnson, says one of their book clubs went through the book and took a lot away from it. They asked the Seahorns to come speak, and they accepted.

"Being able to walk in their shoes and to talk about it and live through it; I think he's probably the best teacher, the best role model that soldiers can ask for," says Johnson.

The discussion is Friday at the Warrior Relaxation Response Center (2535 Airport Road) from noon until 6 p.m. Everything begins with lunch, but you can show up at anytime. The event is free to local families or individuals who want to participate.
